What offended me also was how the mother/wife was portrayed in the one cartoon. She was on her knees (submission) scrubbing the floors when her little boy came in dirtying the floor. The little woman started crying (women can't control their emotions) and it was the big man that was more gentle and rational towards the boy. That's how I saw it anyway. If you were really to study these videos I think there's a lot more said.

Who Passed Jesus' Inspection In 1919?
by Cameron_Don ini was looking over the upcoming september 15 watchtower study article where it says that in 1919, something woke (the anointed) up!
jesus had come to inspect all those who called themselves christians.
some of the anointed did not pass this inspection.. but as many of us know, none of the anointed would have passed an inspection of the 48 teachings that are mentioned in chapter 3 of captives of a concept.. for example: according to the proclaimers book, none of the anointed woke up to jesus invisible presence beginning in 1914 until 1943 - 24 years after jesus inspection was over.

Interesting. Last week a witness came to my door to invite me to the Convention. At the time when he rang the doorbell I was reading a small booklet by Peter Gregerson about why he left the organization, questioning their claim that Jesus had chosen this org in 1919.
I mentioned Studies in Scripture that Gregerson had mentioned in his booklet and the man dismissed it saying it was old literature. I asked him if Jesus chose the Watchtower in 1919. He was a very arrogant man and left in a huff saying that he was wasting his time talking to me. We did cover a number of issues and hopefully he will think about what he said. He had boasted that he had an IQ of 140.

Were 'alien residents' Second Class Israelites?
by The Searcher inthe accepted teaching amongst most (i'm addressing fellow witnesses here) is that 'alien residents' were merely "beneficiaries" of the law covenant, but were not equal with natural israelites.
the insight book has this to say; "the law covenant between jehovah and the nation of natural israel was made in the third month after their leaving egypt, in 1513 b.c.e.
(ex 19:1) it was a national covenant.

First, I don't believe the Jehovah's Witnesses are God's organization. I believe they are false prophets. But I do agree that the Old Covenant was made with natural Israel. Where I totally disagree with the JW's is that God rejected Israel and made a New Covenant with Spiritual Israel (144,000 annointed). I also disagree with some Christian denominations that teach Replacement Theology; that the Church has replaced Israel.
This subject is close to my heart. I wish I had more time to go into it right now. The following verses may be of help to you.
Psalm 105:8, Jeremiah 31:31, Romans 11, Galatians 3:8-9,
Ephesians 2:11-13 Jew and Gentile Reconciled Through Christ 11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands) — 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

What do you think of AOG church?
by shallbefree inhello friends, i am a fading jw and i am thinking of attending sunday service at a local aog church here, just for fellowship.
i have lots of friends but none of them are spiritual minded.
not that i am complaining but it would be nice to meet some spiritual minded people.

I agree with elderelite. You have to check it out for yourself.
The AOG is Pentecostal. We have been attending a Pentecostal church here in Canada for about 9 years. Even though I disagree with a couple of things I believe it's a good church. There will always be something in any church/denomination that you may disagree with. I have no problem with any church as long as the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith are correct and you see that people as a whole genuinely care for each other, and that you actually enjoy being there. For me the "Church" is comprised of all denominations that adhere to the foundational doctrines. By the way I have never heard of anyone being disfellowshipped.
So enjoy your Sunday. I suggest you join a small group to get to know people. If you don't like that particular church then try another. For me, the first time I stepped into the church I attend I felt comfortable, like I belonged. It's a welcoming church but not overboard, which totally turns me off.

Had a Frustrating Discussion with Mom...
by tenyearsafter inmy 80 something year old mom is a die hard jw, but to her credit, she has not shunned me.
as would be expected, she is always "praying" that i return to jah and get reinstated.
is consistent...every time my wife and i see her, she always tries to steer the conversation to "how bad the world" has become.. today, she escalated the "theocratic attack" by coming out directly and asking me what i thought of world conditions.

tenyearsafter: never say never. My mom was a die hard witness, truly believing in this organization, stating that if the organization wasn't the truth then God didn't exist. She was constantly trying to convert us.
It was through a difficult situation a few years ago that she was faced with the truth. It took her a while but today she is happy, enjoying her life. She still says that there was some good in it, but admits that it is a cult. She gave her disassociation letter to the hall a year ago. It still amazes me that she is out after almost 40 years. She is 81.

"Do not go beyond the things written"
by hotspur inhow many times did you hear that?
it wasn't until i read with disbelief no room for george's pitiful statement about being proud to be a jw did i start to think of a simple of way of discrediting the jws... it needed a simple scriptural phrase that causes them to shoot their own foot!.
so - how many different ways can you think of where jws have "gone beyond the things written"?.

Off to work but will give you a few.
Jesus is not the Mediator for the Great Crowd.
Great Crowd not in the New Covenant
Jesus created all other things
Only annointed partake at Memorial
Only annointed have heavenly hope
I sense that NT is not written for Great Crowd and I don't see how they benefit from death of Christ. Unlike annointed, they are not saved by grace but have to work out their salvation. I could be wrong but that is what I sense.

Got some Street Encounter Questions for JWs?
by Vanderhoven7 insuggested street encounter questions:.
perhaps you have a question or two that might prove effective.. .
1. is it true that you believe that only jws will be saved at armageddon?

WontLeave: I agree.
1 John 2:27(NIV) 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.
I assume, according to JW's, this scripture only applies to the annointed? That is why I ask the question (below) if the witnesses believe that the bible is only written for the annointed.
Is Jesus your Mediator?
Are only the annointed saved by grace, the others have to work for their salvation?
Is the new testament only written for the annointed?
Never having been a witness I wonder about the last two questions myself.
